The Maison
Maison Noir began in a single room on the Rue de Turenne with one seamstress, one stand and a bolt of Italian wool. Three decades on, the principle has not changed: fewer pieces, made slowly, in cloth chosen before the sketch.
Cloth first
We buy directly from mills in Biella and Como, in quantities small enough to be traced from loom to label.
Hand finishing
Buttonholes, linings and hems are worked by hand. A single overcoat takes eleven pairs of hands and nineteen hours.
Made to last
Every Maison Noir garment carries lifetime repair. We would rather mend a coat than sell a second one.
